I design and hand build every Rindleshire product in the little studio in my home in Prosperity, SC. Strong detail is given to structure and build to minimize seams and strengthen high stress areas. I use tried and true leather crafting methods combined with garment and quilting techniques. I use a strong traditional saddle stitch, which means I hammer each hole and finish each stitch by hand.
I intentionally utilize the beautiful suede of the leather as the inside of the bag. You won't find fabric linings in my leather products as fabric and canvas will never last as long as the leather. There are no hidden stitches, because I want you to see their beauty and strength. My goal is that you want to use your leather bag or gear everyday and pass it on to your grands.
Understanding Your Investment
Whether a bag is designer or cheap, today it was made using a fast fashion model of large batches, on an assembly line, by people paid well below a livable wage. The making process results in weak seams and materials. They last only a short amount of time and end up in a land field or the back of a closet. At Rindleshire, only the most durable leather and thread are used for each bag. Every stitch is hand pricked and hand-stitched using old country methods. What the fast fashion industry can make in 2 minutes, takes hours at Rindleshire. The average Rindleshire bag takes 10-20 hours to make. The time invested in the making of your bag gets transformed into an heirloom investment you can carry for a lifetime. Your bag will never wear out - it will wear in - and patina to your use and love.
From their own words, Horween shares, “making the best means doing lots of little things right. It means never mistaking fastest or cheapest with the best. It means always using formulas that do not cut corners, and choosing components strictly for their quality.” I chose Horween because their standards match my Rindleshire standard of giving you the very best product.
What is Pull-Up?
Each of the leathers has a “pull-up,” which means that when the leather is folded or manipulated the oils inside the leather move around giving it a tonal effect on the surface of the leather. It can be buffed out to a near original look, but over time, it will patina to your moves and use - making your bag or gear unique to you. Pull-up is what gives the leathers the marbled look.
